SWC Video Tutorial: Installing our sapphire caseback using a plastic screw ball

April 16th, 2010

Here is a video of the installation of our sapphire caseback on a Rolex GMT-Master using a plastic screw ball. The installation is very easy and works well. We even put the watch in a water resistance testing machine, set at 0.5 and 3 bars, to prove that the caseback, when installed properly, does not affect your watch’s water resistance.

If you are planing on using your watch in the water after installing the caseback, please remember to get it tested for water resistance before to make sure it has been installed properly.

Transparent Sapphire Casebacks installation tutorial

March 25th, 2010

Our see-through casebacks have generated a lot of interest. We also get a lot of questions on how they can be installed. Here is a post that I hope will help answer this question.

Our casebacks cannot be installed using a normal Rolex case opener. You can install it using one of the following options:

Ball_opener1. Installation using a Ball Opener for Screw-Back Cases
The tool can be found here. It has been tested and has proven to work perfectly to install our sapphire caseback. It is unexpensive and very easy to use. Most of our clients have used it to install their casebacks.

2. Installation using a “rubber tool” also called Watch Case Die Aluminum High Grade 34mm
The tool can be found here. This is the most “professional” option but also requires having a press machine.

Both options are working just fine and are proven to provide the same water resistance as the original caseback.
You can also visit your local watch repair center and have it installed.

Feel free to contact us as always if you need additional details.

Black PVD Sapphire Case BackThis is by far our most successful product to date. Many of you have been asking questions about it so we thought we would try to answer them all in this post.

SWC has created a transparent case back for Rolex in sapphire and steel 316, which is the highest steel quality used in the watch industry. This custom made case back was engineered to fit perfectly the case of your Rolex watch. It will not affect the resistance of the watch to the water.

SWC offers two different finishes on the case back.
1. One case back with a smooth satin finish and a beveled sapphire crystal glass.
2. One case back with a satin finish, fluted pattern design and a beveled sapphire crystal glass.

Please note that the fluted pattern is purely decorative. The key made by Rolex to open watch case cannot be used to open and close this case back. The SWC case back can be installed easily with a rubber fitting tool as shown on the picture. It can be installed by any watchmaker shop with the basic equipment. Please make sure to ask forĀ  a water test control. SWC cannot be responsible for damaged caused by the installation. The SWC case back will in no way damage your watch case or anything else as long as it was installed properly.

How to find out your watch strap size

January 11th, 2010

Stainless Steel Rolex Bracelet

Want to change your original Rolex bracelet for a skin strap but not sure what your size should be? Here is a unique technique to recognize your actual size to order our watch skin band. Three sizes are available, small, regular and large. Within each size, and extra adjustment is possible by moving the attachment spring bar forward or backward.

To find out your size, simply count the amount of links on your steel bracelet:

> Small : 45mm by 62mm, count 10 links in total including the two attachments links.

> Regular (most common size): 50mm by 70mm, count 13 links including the two attachments links.

> Large : 60mm by 80mm, count 15 links including the two attachments links.

You will then be able to adjust , with the pin tool provided the exact size needed for your wrist. Please remember that it will take few days before the skin of the strap actually breaks in and becomes more flexible (just like leather shoes).
